Yiming Clara is an artist raised in Beijing, living and working in Berkeley, CA. Working across sculpture, installation, performance, and social practice, she is interested in how we move about in the world traversing between surfaces of material and of social construction. Her work takes impressions of the familiar as medium and constructs situations that open onto new potential worlds. The collaborative core of her practice shapes her work to become a creation of structures for gathering. She is the founder of APARTMENT 19, a nomadic project space presenting exhibitions, performances, events, and publications through alternative formats and sites.
